Bronco Federal Credit Union is pleased to award eight high school seniors from the community with scholarships to help them begin their continued education journey.
This year’s program awarded one $10,000 scholarship, three $5,000 scholarships and two $2,500 scholarships to the graduating seniors.
Ben Scarboro of Franklin High School is the recipient of the $10,000 John Alan Glasgow Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is named in memory of John Alan Glasgow, Class of 1999, to recognize the scholastic and life achievements of a graduating student. Ben is excited about his credit union and states, “Credit union membership has been a family affair for as long as I can remember. The credit union has been a place of growth for me and my family.”
Michael Milteer of Southampton Academy, Dallas Banks of Franklin High School, and Kayla-Brooke White of Southampton High School were each awarded a $5,000 Bronco Scholarship. In addition, Lauren Taylor Byrd of Isle of Wight Academy, Bobby Estienne of Lakeland High School, Shelbie Turner of Southampton High School and Rathmond M. “RJ” Collins IV of Franklin High School each received a $1,250 scholarship from Bronco. The 2011 scholarship winners have demonstrated excellent community and extracurricular activity involvement as well as strong academics throughout their high school careers.
The Scholarship winners feel like a part of the Bronco Federal Credit Union family. Michael Milteer states “I like the fact that it is a local credit union in my town with good trustworthy people.”
Bronco Federal Credit Union employs 72 team members, both in Franklin and Suffolk. The not-for-profit financial cooperative was founded in 1941 and is headquartered in Franklin. BFCU now serves the Hampton Roads Community. Partnering with more than 18,000 members through five locations will always be the number one priority.
